The Moggy Mewsletter: The Big Summer Update

Hello kitty clients welcome back to the mewsletter!

Oh boy this update is going to be a mega one! Instead of doing a separate update per month over Summer I’m going to alter this post on the fly as we go! It’s been a crazy June and I’ve been rushed off my paws!

But before we get into the nitty gritty of Summer, We have a June Cat of the Month to pick!

During June I had a rather lengthy booking with a trio of cats called Elvis, Lucy and Mabel, well Mabel was pretty much the only cat that stuck around to see me and in fact she wouldn’t leave my side! She very quickly became besotted with me and she’d follow me everywhere and sit on my lap as we sat in the garden relaxing.

She stole my heart and for that reason she’s this months Cat of the Month! Yay Mabel!

This months theme: St Swithins!

With the coming of July usually brings with it the beginnings of Summer and the scorching weather that comes attached to it. However there is a special day called St Swithins day which threatens to put all that on hold.

St. Swithin’s Day, also called St. Swithun’s Day, (July 15), a day on which, according to folklore, the weather for a subsequent period is dictated. In popular belief, if it rains on St. Swithin’s Day, it will rain for 40 days, but if it is fair, 40 days of fair weather will follow. St. Swithin was bishop of Winchester from 852 to 862. At his request he was buried in the churchyard, where rain and the steps of passersby might fall on his grave. According to legend, after his body was moved inside the cathedral on July 15, 971, a great storm ensued. The first textual evidence for the weather prophecy appears to have come from a 13th- or 14th-century entry in a manuscript at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Weather frequently changes around midsummer, and, thus, the tradition that this day influences the weather may stem from earlier, possibly pre-Christian, belief. On the European continent similar beliefs are attached to other saints (e.g., St. Médard, June 8, France).

So let’s hope for fair weather and not mega heatwaves or torrential downpours! It’s also time to swap the profile photos over for a month which will also match the theme! The splashing cat was created in BingAI, an image generator from Microsoft & OpenAI. The banner image was made in LeonadoAI which is another type of Ai powered image generator using Stable Diffusion. If you want to use these images too then you have my paw of blessing!

I use AI generated imagery as an outlet not only for my mind but also to help me make images for Moggy Daycare! Fun fact, the cats in our brand new logo were generated using Midjourney!
